THC Dosage Guide — Vape Pens, Extracts & Edibles (Canada)
THC dosing depends far more on the format than on the strain name. This guide gives conservative starting points for vape pens, extracts, edibles and pre-rolls, plus what to do when you go too far.
Vape pen dosing
One two-second draw from a Gas Gang vape pen is a dose. Onset is 30 seconds to five minutes and the peak passes within an hour, which makes pens the easiest format to titrate: take one draw, wait ten minutes, decide. New consumers should stop at one or two draws in a session. Live resin pens often feel stronger at the same draw length because of their terpene load, so shorten the pull rather than counting puffs.
Extract and dab dosing
Concentrates from the extracts line are potent by design. A rice-grain-sized portion is a full beginner dose of shatter or distillate. With HTFSE, go smaller and cooler — the flavour arrives long before you need volume. Wait a full ten minutes between dabs; stacking them is how people end up on the couch for the afternoon.
Edible dosing
This is where patience matters. Start at 2.5–5 mg THC if you are new, 10 mg if you consume regularly, and only go above 25 mg if you have a tolerance you have actually tested.
- Wait two hours before considering a second piece of a THC gummy or THC chocolate.
- Eat something first. An empty stomach speeds onset and sharpens the peak.
- Do not mix with alcohol on a first session — it reliably makes nausea and dizziness worse.
Pre-roll dosing
A standard AAA pre-roll is easy to share and easy to put out halfway. An infused D9 pre-roll is not a like-for-like swap: smoke a third, wait, then decide.
If you take too much
Overconsumption is uncomfortable, not dangerous. Sit or lie down somewhere quiet, sip water, eat something plain, and let it pass — inhaled effects fade within a couple of hours, edibles take longer. Black peppercorns and a cool room genuinely help. Seek medical attention if there is chest pain, a pre-existing heart condition or persistent vomiting.
Storage and potency over time
Keep pens upright at room temperature and away from heat, store extracts cold and airtight, and keep edibles sealed, out of sunlight and well away from children and pets. Heat and light degrade THC faster than time does.
